John Cooper Clarke Performs 'Hire Car' (VIDEO)

It's been a big week for John Cooper Clarke.

After a fantastic interview with the Guardian, the punk poet from Salford starred in BBC Four documentary Evidently... John Cooper Clarke - suddenly, the rangy old rocker found himself trending on Twitter, a medium that demands a brevity of wit he might appreciate given his famous haiku:

"To convey one's mood / In seventeen syllables / Is very diffic"

A few weeks ago we were at the barmy but brilliant Laugharne Weekend, a literature festival in Wales that John Cooper Clarke attended with his wife.

We saw him perform a range of his old hits, included the surreal Hire Car - which you can enjoy in the video above.
