Beckham Plugs Experience For Team GB

David Beckham has cited his experience ahead of the final squad announcement for the Team GB football squad at London 2012.

A provisional list of 35 players must be submitted by 8 June, with the final squad, plus four standby players, to be submitted by 6 July.

And 37-year-old Beckham reaffirmed his wish to participate as one of Team GB's three over-23 squad members, but vowed to be in London during the Olympics whether he would be playing or not.

"I'd love to play, I'm very proud to have played for my country 115 times and obviously been captain of the country for quite a few games and quite a few years, so yeah, I'd love to be involved, but we'll see."

"I'm gonna be here no matter what," Beckham stressed. "I've been an ambassador for the Olympics and the Olympic bid since we got it back in Singapore, and it's something I've been very proud to be a part of. Being part of Seb [Coe]'s team that has bought this amazing event to the End End of London where I'm from, I'm very proud of that."

Beckham was at a Primary School in South Harrow on Friday as he continued his London 2012 Olympics ambassadorial role.

The former England captain was taking part in a in a challenge ahead of this summer's Paralympics, where he outlined his hopes ahead of the Games to ITV1's This Morning.

He said: "We get excited about big events in our country like nowhere else in the world so it's going to inspire another generation of kids to try different things. To see the Olympics and to see the talent that we're going to have on show in our country, it will inspire a number of kids."
