Schoolboy Charged After Birmingham Mosque Attack

A schoolboy has been charged grievous bodily harm following an attack outside a mosque that left a man critically ill in hospital.

The 15-year-old, from the Small Heath area of Birmingham, was arrested by detectives on Sunday evening following the attack on the 22-year-old man on Friday.

He is due to appear in court on a date yet to be fixed.

The attack took place outside a mosque at the junction of Somerville Road and St Oswald's Road.

Two men arrested on Friday, aged 42 and 20 and also from Small Heath, have been released on police bail until a date in July, West Midlands Police said.

The victim suffered a serious head injury and remains in a critical condition in hospital.
