POLL: Redknapp Urges Spurs To Offer Him New Deal

Harry Redknapp has urged Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy to offer him a new deal, as the Spurs manager grows impatient over his future at the club.

Redknapp is out of contract in June 2013 and having been overlooked in favour of Roy Hodgson as Fabio Capello's successor as England manager, is eager to be tied down to a lengthier deal at White Hart Lane.

He told Sky Sports News: "The simple situation is that I have a year left on my contract and it is up to Tottenham whether they want to extend that or not.

"Things couldn't have gone better since I've been there. We've finished fourth twice, fifth once, quarter-finals of the Champions League and played fantastic football.

"It's a good club and I enjoy being at Tottenham."

The 65-year-old has not won a piece of silverware in north London since he moved to Tottenham from Portsmouth in October 2008, but Redknapp did guide the club into the Champions League with a fourth-placed Premier League finish in the 2009/10 season.

Although the club progressed to the quarter-finals, beating Internazionale and AC Milan en route, they were humbled 5-0 on aggregate in the last eight by Real Madrid.

But now Redknapp has bizarrely labelled the Champions League as "overrated" after Spurs failed to qualify for the competition for a second successive season.

Chelsea's European Cup win dashed Tottenham the privilege of the pre-qualifying rounds and Redknapp, having played second-string sides in the League Cup, FA Cup and Europa League, has now taken aim at world football's premier club competition. He added Premier League football "is big enough".

Steven Pienaar's future at the Lilywhites also looks ominous, after the South African enjoyed a fruitful loan spell at previous side Everton between January and May last season.

Redknapp referenced the 30-year-old - still contracted to Spurs - in the past tense when he stated "he was unlucky at Tottenham".
