Jean Jobson Killing: Karen Williamson, EastEnders' Extra, Bludgeoned Pensioner To Death

EastEnders' Extra Admits Bludgeoning Pensioner To Death

An EastEnders' extra has admitted bludgeoning a pensioner to death in a savage attack.

Karen Williamson, 46, was facing trial at the Old Bailey for the murder of Jean Jobson but on Wednesday changed her plea.

She was due to carry out gardening work for Ms Jobson, 86, who was known as Pat, at her home in Downham, south-east London.

But Williamson, who was addicted to crack cocaine, did not finish the work and went back and attacked the pensioner with a hammer and heavy glass jug.

Her body was found by police in the house where she had lived for more than 40 years, on 20 February last year.

Prosecutor Brian Altman QC told the jury: "The manner of the killing of this elderly woman in the sanctity of her home defies belief because of its nature and savagery."

On Wednesday he read a victim impact statement from Ms Jobson's nephew Mark Montgomery, who said: "We can't express the anger we feel towards the person responsible for Pat's horrific murder.

"My entire family are bewildered as to how this ever occurred, especially to Aunty Pat who was loved and respected by so many.

"She was in good health for her age and in no way deserved to have her life cut short in such a cruel and despicable manner."
