London 2012 Countdown: Usain Bolt Sets A New World Record At Beijing 2008 (VIDEO)

WATCH Great Olympic Moments: Bolt's World Record At Beijing

London 2012's showpiece event will arguably be the men's 100 metres when Usain Bolt will take to the Stratford track bidding to smash back-to-back Olympic and world records.

It was at Beijing in 2008 where the Jamaican announced himself on the world stage. Setting world records in both the 100 and 200 metre races days before his 22nd birthday, he would also add a 4x100m relay gold (and world record) to make it an unprecedented Olympic treble haul in China.

The money moment came in the first event though, as he blitzed 100 metres in 9.69 seconds, appearing to slow down come the final stretch.

Not bad for someone gorging on chicken nuggets and yams.
