Man On Missing Woman Murder Charge

A man has been charged with the murder of a 63-year-old woman who was reported missing from her home in January.

West Mercia Police said the suspect, a 60-year-old-man, will appear before magistrates in Hereford tomorrow charged with the murder of Alethea Taylor.

Mrs Taylor, who lived in Orleton, near Leominster, Herefordshire, went missing on January 19 this year and has not been located despite extensive searches by specialist police officers and members of the local community.

In a statement released by West Mercia Police, Detective Inspector Dave Williams said: "I can confirm that earlier today a 60-year-old man was charged with the murder of Alethea Taylor.

"He will be appearing at Hereford Magistrates' Court in the morning.

"Although this represents a significant step forward in our inquiry, our work on this case will be continuing and we remain keen to speak to anyone who believes they may have information about Alethea's disappearance.

"Anyone who'd like to speak to police officers about this case is asked to contact West Mercia Police on 0300 333 3000."
