In the world of ridiculous celeb tattoos, Sarah Harding's 'Don't Be Bitter - Glitter' design will always take some beating.

But Zayn Malik has definitely given her a run for her money with his latest inking.

The One Directioner has had a giant microphone etched on his forearm, because, you know, he's a singer and that.

But just what is that big blob of splat all about?

You'd think with all those protective record label types around him, there would have at least been one person to advise him against it, right?

Zayn (deservedly) got a bit of a ribbing from his bandmates when he unveiled the tat on stage during their US tour, as the lads began holding their mics in the same position and giggling.

The boybander - who is dating Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards - has got quite a collection of body art going on. Back in April he unveiled a line of script just above his chest on his collarbone reading, 'Be true to who you are'.

He also has a yin and yang symbol on his wrist, his grandfather's name written in Arabic on his chest and a japanese symbol meaning 'born lucky' on his hip.

But Zayn isn't the only one to get some fresh ink.

Harry has reportedly added Temper Trap lyrics to his star tattoo on the inside of his bicep.
