Euro 2012: England Fans Not To Repeat 'Inappropriate Behaviour'

Warned: England Fans Not To Repeat 'Inappropriate Behaviour'

England fans have been warned not to repeat their "inappropriate conduct" at Kiev's Olympic Stadium on Sunday which resulted in the Football Association being fined €5,000 (£4,035) by Uefa.

Around 20-30 fans jumped over the wall between the stands and the running track around the pitch to celebrate England's second and third goals against Sweden on 15 June.

Some supporters claimed they were standing on the wall to watch the match because the view from their front row seats was obstructed, and they were either pushed over or jumped for their own safety.

But fans arriving on flights and those already in the city centre on Sunday were handed a written notice from stadium officials calling on them to sit in their allocated seats during the Euro 2012 quarter-final against Italy.

It stated: "In the interests of your safety and consideration of your fellow supporters trying to watch the match, please do not stand on the wall between the seated area and the track. We understand the excitement when a goal is scored, however no supporter should under any circumstances celebrate by jumping over the wall."

Supporters were also requested to keep staircases clear in case emergency assistance was required.

No England fans have been arrested during the tournament and the head of the British police contingent in Ukraine has praised their general behaviour.
