Man Seriously Injured After Shopping Centre 'Leap'

A man is has been seriously injured after allegedly leaping from the third floor balcony of Birmingham's Bullring shopping centre.

The incident, which occurred at 7.20pm on Friday, saw the man supposedly jump over barriers near the massive centre's Debenhams as fellow customers looked on in horror.

The unidentified man was immediately rushed to hospital, West Midlands Police said, and the centre evacuated.

According to the BBC, CCTV shows that the man leapt over the barrier before plunging three floors.

A spokesperson for the shopping centre confirmed the incident, saying: "We can confirm that there was an incident at 7.20pm this evening at Bullring. As a result of this we have evacuated an area of the centre.

"We are working closely with West Midlands Police and as always our primary concern is for the welfare of our customers."
