Eamonn Holmes And Ruth Langsford Speak Out About Online Trolls

'This Morning' Couple Abused By Trolls

Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford have joined the list of celebrities who've spoken out about trolls on Twitter and internet abuse.

The Northern Irishman, who hosts This Morning over the summer with wife Langsford, toldThe Sun he'd received abuse about his weight and for having an English bride from a teenage girl’s Twitter account.

In March, former Blue Peter presenter Richard Bacon revealed how he too was targeted by abusive internet trolls, in a bid to highlight the growing problem of cyber-bullying.

Bacon, now a BBC Radio Five Live presenter, had suffered nearly two years of anonymous online abuse directed not only at him, but also his wife and baby son.

Other stars, including Stephen Fry and Miranda Hart, have previously temporarily left Twitter after coming under fire.

And although internet experts say the key is not to "feed the troll" by offering them a response, comedian Dom Joly took a different approach in the past, once revealing he took pleasure in tracking down the culprits and exposing them to public shame.

"There's something about a bully that really annoys me," he told The BBC. "They'll say something online that they'd never dare to say to your face."
