England Ranked Fourth Best Team In The World By FIFA

You What?? Fifa Rankings List England As Fourth Best

England have been surreally ranked as officially the fourth best team in the world by Fifa.

The rankings, which have long been criticised for their detachment from reality, list reigning European and world champions Spain top, with Germany in second place.

Roy Hodgson's side lost at the quarter-final stage of the European Championship and played out four games of uninspiring football in Ukraine and Poland.

Uruguay, Copa América winners, sit above England in third, while Portugal (fifth), Italy (sixth) and Argentina (seventh) are placed behind Roy Hodgson's side.

Holland, Croatia and Denmark make up the remainder of the top 10.

As for the other home nations Wales are 38th, Scotland lie in 49th and Northern Ireland are ranked a lowly 102nd.

The Republic of Ireland's disastrous Euro 2012 showing - in which they lost all three games and conceded nine goals - sees them fall to 26th.

Brazil meanwhile, who host the 2014 World Cup, occupy 11th.
