The rise of Steampunk has seen goggle specs, Victorian dress and sci-fi appendages becoming ever more common. And the hybrid genre is marching straight into our kitchens if these pictures are anything to go by.
Featuring elegant timepieces, Zeppelins, gleaming cogs, gears and cranks, these cakes, as featured on Cake Wreck, are some of the most artisticly intricate we’ve ever seen.

Borne of a combination of sci-fi literature and Victoriana, Steampunk is swiftly gaining popularity and is no longer an underground oddity.
Combining elements of history with modern technology, the term "steampunk" was coined in 1987 by sci-fi writer Kevin Jeter, as a means of separating the “Victorian-style speculative fiction” from the "cyberpunk" movement epitomised by William Gibson and Bruce Bethke.
