It's a phrase we never thought we'd type, but here we are, typing it: German Chancellor Angela Merkel has accidentally been given a Hitler moustache.

Blessed with the unfortunate upper lip fuzz by a piece of pure happenstance on a Dutch news show, it shows the German leader pulling rather a stern face as a piece of plastic (or is it an on-screen graphic?) juts out just above her mouth.

In other words, here's to you, NOS, for having the kind of newsroom decor that provides the occassional giggle. Much obliged.

And just in case you were wondering, NOS's news report was on the burgeoning romance diplomatic photocall (see below) between Merkel and new French leader Francois Hollande that took place recently. Ah, young love... politics...
