Apple 'Mystery Product' Fourth In Currys' Top 10 Christmas Tech Predictions

Currys Makes Top 10 Xmas Tech Predictions... In July

It may still be July, but the top 10 tech predictions for Christmas 2012 have just been unveiled by Currys and PC World.

And two of the items on the list haven't even been announced yet.

For the third year in a row, the Apple iPad tops the list but the Cupertino company also comes in fourth with the rumour-sparking inclusion of a 'Mystery Apple Product' (price TBD, obviously).

Recent speculation has focused on a 7.85 inch iPad 'Mini', said to be on track for the autumn.

A new iPhone could also be released before Christmas - although such a product would not likely be on sale at Currys.

The Kindle e-Reader comes in second on the top 10 list - boosted by its cheap price of just £89.

But another surprise is that the recently announced Google Nexus 7 tablet pops up in third - again, due in part to its relatively low price (£199).

The Krups Dolce Gusto pod coffee machine is fifth, while the Kindle Fire - again, a product not yet available or even announced for the UK market, comes in sixth.

Lower down on the list are the Goji Tinchy Stryder headphones, a Dyson vacuum and the Nikon S13200 compact camera.

Mark Hosgood, manager for e-readers and tablets, at the retailer, said: "While it's no surprise that the likes of the iPad and Kindle are going to be on everyone's gift lists this year, we also think the tablet market as a whole could be a big winner.

"We are already selling three times as many tablet devices as we were this time last year, and I expect this number will continue to rise as we get closer to Christmas."

The top 10 list in full is:

1. Apple iPad (3rd gen)

2. Amazon Kindle

3. Google Nexus 7

4. Apple 'Mystery Product'

5. Krups Dolce Gusto

6. Amazon Kindle Fire

7. Goji TInchy Stryder On Cloud 9 Headphones

8. Dyson DC44

9. Tefal Actrify

10. Nikon S13200
