Jeremy Clarkson BBC's Highest-Paid Presenter With Estimated £3m Salary This Year

Jeremy Clarkson Drives Off With £3m Booty

Jeremy Clarkson has overtaken Graham Norton to become the BBC's highest presenter, the Guardian estimated today.

He's rolling in it

The presenter of Top Gear has seen his earnings rise in the last year to more than £3 million, because of the extra profits arising from worldwide exploitation of the DVD rights and other merchandise deals out of the successful motoring programme that he co-hosts.

Clarkson's improved booty comes from his significant share in the company that controls these rights, reports the Guardian. See their breakdown of the figures here...

These figures put Clarkson in pole position ahead of radio and TV broadcaster Graham Norton and Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker.

The BBC's annual report, released today, revealed that between three and six of its stars were in the million-pound club. Chris Evans and Alan Hansen are likely to be on the list of highly-paid entertainers, with Jeremy Paxman and Chris Moyles not far behind.

Other stars have experienced cuts in their salaries, as the BBC continues to make cuts on its spending, with its eye on the increasingly fragile television licence fee.
