Student's Body Found In 'Blood-Spattered' Flat

A 29-year-old man is being questioned by police after a Spanish student's corpse was found in his blood-spattered flat in Bournemouth.

The man was arrested after a woman found the victim, named in reports as Sergio Retamar Marquez, in a Bournemouth city centre flat on Tuesday.

It is believed the 23-year-old, from Coin near Malaga, southern Spain, moved to the UK to learn English.

Officers refused to comment on reports that the victim was decapitated in the attack.

Inquiries revealed a man left the scene along Holdenhurst Road in the direction of Bournemouth station.

The man, from Bournemouth, was arrested about 30 minutes later in the area of Beechey Road on suspicion of murder.

A spokeswoman for Dorset Police said officers are not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident.

Police said the incident happened at a busy time of day and are urging anyone who saw anything suspicious or has any information to call the police in confidence on 101, quoting incident number 17:354.
