A socialite who featured in a viral photo album mocking lifestyles of the rich and famous says the incident has been "very embarrassing".

Annabel Schwartz, who was pictured in front of a helicopter with her friends in Saint-Tropez, France, telephoned Good Morning America after the Tumblr album zipped around the world.

Speaking from the European hotspot where she is continuing her holiday, she said: “My friends and I don’t want to be associated with this. This is very embarrassing.”

The 19-year-old, who attends University of Miami and runs a fashion company called Sibling Rivalry, added: “I have no idea who created this Tumblr. If this can be taken down, I think we’d all be a little bit thrilled. This isn’t attractive publicity.”

The Rich Kids of Instagram album – which can be viewed below – is a collection of shots of the young and privileged on private yachts, jets, brandishing champagne bottles and generally frolicking amid dollar signs.

It also includes Paris Hilton’s little brother Barron (below), taking a stroll across a deserted beach with a bikini-clad blonde in one hand and a glass of champagne in the other, and Tiffany Trump illustrating her journey from LA to New York with a picture of the family private jet.

The identity of the creator of the account, who has accessorised the account with the simple strapline: “They have more money than you and this is what they do”, is not known.

Schwartz added: “We all grew up quite nicely but I don’t want to be embarrassed by the fact that I can enjoy myself in Saint-Tropez.

“Everyone here considers themselves to be a lot more substantial than their father’s credit card."
