If you’re thinking of cracking open a bottle of beer to celebrate to London 2012 Games, why not take a swig of ale that would have Olympic trainers shaking in their (training) boots?
A Scottish brewery has created ‘anti-Olympics’ beer that contains eight ‘banned’ performance-enhancing ingredients.
The ‘Never Mind the Anabolics’ beers, made by BrewDog, are packed with creatine, guarana lycii berries, kola nut, Gingko, matcha tea, maca powder and steroids – all banned for professional athletes.
‘Perfomance Enhancers’ are substances that athletes inject, ingest, or inhale to improve their performance on the playing field.
The beer was created to "undermine global sponsorship".
Co-founder of BrewDog, James Watt, said the ‘illegal’ beers are “a thorn in the side of the biggest corporate beast spawned this century” and that all proceeds of the beer will go towards a new surfboard for a surfing dog named Abbie.
Ok, then.
"This is the craft beer community showing the sponsors of the games the finger in the best way we know how,” adds Watt.
