We're so accustomed to seeing the cast of TOWIE's collective skin looking various shades of orange (some that we didn't even know existed) that it's not even newsworthy anymore.

But Gemma Collins was sporting a decidedly redder hue as she stepped out at Joey Essex's birthday bash last night.

Given that the sun hasn't currently got it's hat on we're guessing that her new look isn't down to falling asleep in the midday heat, but rather getting too carried away with the old blusher brush.

Poor Gem had obviously been trying to look her best for new man James Argent as she hit Funky Buddha in London, but it all went a bit Pete Tong for the star, and her glum face would suggest she was aware of the blunder.

She and Arg had earlier enjoyed a date night at the Sheesh restaurant in Chigwell before joining the rest of the gang to celebrate Joey's birthday.

However, the evening didn't start out smoothly when Arg was late in picking Gemma up.

Arg had tweeted: "@missgemcollins I hope your ready cos I'm on the way to come and get you! @JoeyEssex_ Bday Night!!!!" but it wasn't long before Gemma was giving him a telling off for being late.

"@RealJamesArgent you was meant to get me at eight xxx I'm ready are you ?? Xx"

Oh dear.
