The 28-year-old cyclist who died in a collision outside the Olympic park on Wednesday night has been named as Dan Harris, police said on Thursday.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said a man in his mid-60s was arrested at the scene, just outside the Olympic Park in Stratford, east London, at 9.28pm on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
The bus driver has been bailed pending further inquiries after Mr Harris was hit by a bus ferrying journalists between Olympic venues.
Mr Harris had originally studied physics before becoming a social media strategist and community manager.
On his personal website, he said he enjoyed Arsenal FC, Pittsburgh Penguins, Boston Celtics, Leyton Orient, Plymouth Argyle as well as his camera and PS3.
Mr Harris also tweeted about how much he was enjoying watching the Olympics, and how cyclists who jumped red lights "give the rest of us a bad name."
On July 30, he wrote on the micro-blogging site "I'm thinking of painting my cycling helmet to make me look like Toad from Super Mario - yay or nay?"
Mr Harris was from Ilford, Essex and reportedly had only begun recently using his bike to commute into London.
Tributes flooded in for the 28-year-old with many lamenting the "tragic news."
An inquest into Mr Harris's death was opened and adjourned at a brief hearing at Poplar Coroner's Court on Thursday. None of Mr Harris' family were present and the hearing was adjourned until August 31.

In a statement police said: "A man aged 65 was arrested at the scene at 2128hrs on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and was taken to an east London police station. He has been bailed pending further inquiries to a date in late August.
"The collision is being investigated by the Metropolitan Police's Road Death Investigation Unit and enquiries continue."
