'Life Should Be More Like The Olympics Opening Ceremony'

Catriona Knox creates and performs a selection of "funny, sad, ridiculous and slightly sinister" characters for her hotly anticipated show at this year's Edinburgh Fringe. She's also the latest comedy star to answer our 10 Quick Questions...

Pitch your Edinburgh show in 25 words or less.

Bold, brave and bonkers rag-tag of exceptionally well-observed and deliciously dark characters. Julie Walters meets Mad Madam Mim from Disney's The Sword In The Stone.

Your best Edinburgh moment?

In last year's show, I had a Greek character who ran a restaurant and took the audience's orders. My favourite moment was when a lady actually replied to me in Greek. So I got her to teach us all a few words of the lingo. That's what I think all life should be like: having fun and learning things at the same time. Like the Olympic Opening Ceremony.

And your worst?

A family once ordered, had delivered and gratutitously ate a Domino's pizza in one of my first-ever Edinburgh shows. That was a pretty low moment.

You've got one hour free in Edinburgh - what do you do?

Neck a couple of G&Ts, then go and give my best wishes to Greyfriars Bobby before heading off to see a show.

Which Edinburgh landmark/venue/place would you give a five star review to?

There's an amazing little pub called The Waverley Bar, just off the Royal Mile. Everyone seems to miss it. It's really bonkers with old cinema seats instead of bar stools. A real hidden gem - and perfect for when you need a non-Festival moment.

Give us a secret Edinburgh tip!

Never, never, never drink Jägerbombs.

Deep-fried haggis or deep-fried Mars bar?

Now, this is tricky. I love haggis. I love Mars bars. I hate batter. A haggis-stuffed Mars bar would be superior to either of these. Or a Mars melt haggis...

Kilt or trousers?

Definitely a kilt. And all trousers should be tartan. By law.

Arthur's Seat or Arthur Smith?

The Seat wins every time. When you climb up Arthur Smith, the view's not quite as good.

Complete this sentence: “In Edinburgh, I will be mainly...
