Edinburgh Fringe Comedy: 10 Questions With Chris Ramsey

'I'd Take A Swift Kick In The Balls Over Deep-Fried Haggis Or Mars Bar'

Acclaimed stand-up Chris Ramsey was nominated for the Foster's Comedy Award at last year's Edinburgh Fringe. This year, he's back with a brand new show that's all about being lucky. Talking of which, we were lucky enough to get him to answer our 10 Quick Questions (see what we did there?)...

Pitch your Edinburgh show in 25 words or less.

Third show by Foster's Comedy Award nominee, following two sell-out years and a sell-out UK tour. A feelgood hour of comedy.

Your best Edinburgh moment?

Being nominated for last year's Fosters Main Award. It might be the best moment of my life, actually.

And your worst?

You know when you walk along an Edinburgh street in the rain and stand on a wonky paving stone and it fires dirty rain water up your legs and back? That! Happens at least once a year.

You've got one hour free in Edinburgh - what do you do?

Sleep.

Which Edinburgh landmark/venue/place would you give a five star review to?

Red Fort curry house. Love it!

Give us a secret Edinburgh tip!

Taxi drivers hate giving out receipts. Ask for one even if you don't need it, just to see their faces.

Deep-fried haggis or deep-fried Mars bar?

I'd have to go for the Mars bar. But in all honesty, I'd take a swift kick in the balls over either.

Kilt or trousers?

Jeans?

Arthur's Seat or Arthur Smith?

Arthur's Seat - it's definitely more cheerful.

Complete this sentence: “In Edinburgh, I will be mainly...

...doing gigs, rain, hills, booze and stress. But I wouldn't have it any other way."

Chris Ramsey's show Feeling Lucky is at 19.40 at the Pleasance Courtyard - Above, 1-26 August. Find out more and book tickets here.
