A baby boy of just a year old has died and a two-year-old girl is in a critical condition in hospital after two cars collided in Leicester, ploughing into two adults pushing the babies in their pushchairs.

Police officers told the BBC that the children were in their prams at a the junction of Narborough Road and Braunstone Gate when a BMW and Mini Cooper collided at about 09:50 yesterday morning.

The two men who were pushing the children suffered minor injuries in the accident.

"It shows you exactly what happened," Mr Young said, "People were there instantly. From the accident, people ran to their aid in moments - the people's reaction time was fabulous."
