Bellamy In Talks Over Return To Cardiff

Craig Bellamy is in talks over a return to Cardiff City, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed.

Rumours circulated on Tuesday the Welshman may be poised to return to his hometown club, having played for them on-loan in the 2010/11 season.

And Rodgers said at his Wednesday press conference:

"We have been in talks with him and Cardiff.

"I had a really good meeting with Craig before I moved up here. He is a big Liverpool supporter but I also understand his thinking.

"He is 33 and has travelled around the country all his life, so there are compassionate reasons.

"We will look at it but we will wish him all the best and move forward."

Bellamy, 33, started all four of Team GB's Olympic fixtures at London 2012, hitting their first goal of the tournament against Senegal at Old Trafford.

He scored 11 goals in 36 appearances for the Bluebirds when he was farmed out on loan by Manchester City two years ago.

Last year Bellamy began his second spell at Liverpool, having lasted just one season at the club before he was sold by Rafael Benítez in 2007 to West Ham United for £7.5m.

The Wales international has played 79 times for the Reds during his two seasons with the Merseyside club, with 18 goals to show for his efforts.
