Kevin Pietersen Believes England Team-Mates Behind Twitter Parody Account

Pietersen Convinced Parody Account Is Run By England Team-Mates (POLL)

Kevin Pietersen's relationship with his England Test team-mates may have worsened after it was reported the batsman is convinced his international colleagues are behind a parody account on Twitter.

"K P Genius", who can be found @KevPietersen24, thrives on the South African-born cricketer's supposed arrogance and alienation from his more humble peers in the England Test set-up.

Furthermore, it is another snag in the impasse between the ECB and Pietersen as they continue to negotiate a central contract.

According to the Daily Telegraph, one of the “points” Pietersen claims needs to be resolved before he contemplates extending his international career is the sardonic account, which currently has over 9,400 followers.

Subtlety, like Pietersen, is devoid from the account, with tweets such as: "People who say Test Cricket is the pinnacle haven't played IPL in front 80,000, slapping Indian medium pacers about at a 141% strike rate."

However none of the tweets appear to be abusive or derogatory, yet that it has vexed Pietersen is a further indication as to how detached he is from other England squad members.

Pietersen, it is widely acknowledged, has always had to be different from his Test team-mates. Test Match Special, which broadcasts England matches on BBC radio, recently suggested whereas all of the Test players drive a Jaguar car provided by the team sponsors, Pietersen doesn't.

Pietersen has had to field more barbs in the media after he announced his retirement from limited overs internationals and jauntily returned from playing in the Indian Premier League.

Quitting one-day matches earlier this year seemed to be a thinly-veiled hint he was keen to extend his Indian Premier League career for the Delhi Daredevils.

He earns £1.3 million with the IPL side per tournament, excluding bonuses and advertising contracts.

Although the Surrey player's representatives were in talks for him to return to the one-day fold, he was excluded from the ICC World Twenty20 squad.

Pietersen appeared eager to continue as an international commented on his future with England at the post-match press conference for the second Test draw with South Africa on Monday.

“You know the saddest thing for me is that the spectators love to watch me play – and I love to play for England,” he reflected.

The 31-year-old has played in 88 Test matches for England, with an average of 49.
