'The X Factor' Start Date Confirmed: Series 9 Will Begin 18 August

Time To Face The Music: 'The X Factor' Start Date Confirmed

The X Factor will return to TV for its ninth series on 18 August, it has been revealed.

Simon Cowell's money-making singing contest is scheduled to air between 8pm and 9.15pm, between a double bill of Ant & Dec's gameshow Red or Black.

The judging line-up has changed since last year - Kelly Rowland is out and Nicole Scherzinger is in. The former Pussycat Doll will join Gary Barlow, Tulisa Contostavlos and Louis Walsh on the search for Britain's next great singer (who will get a record contract but may not end up doing anything remarkable).

The auditions, which have already been filmed across the country, will show guest judges Spice Girls Geri Halliwell and Mel B, Anastacia, Rita Ora and Leona Lewis helping out.

Dermot O'Leary will once again guide contestants and viewers through the series, while Caroline Flack and Olly Murs will present ITV2 spinoff The Xtra Factor for a second year.

The Sun claims he has been given the job of trying to create the first winner from the Overs category since Steve Brookstein won the first series in 2004.

The former contestants on Cowell's talent show star in the new clip, documenting how it launched their careers. Of course, the less successful contestants from the show and those who have come out to condemn it, such as Steve Brookstein and Matt Cardle, are not featured in the video.
