Want something to take your mind off the fact the Olympics are over? How about thinking about bonking flamingoes instead? (See? Works every time!)

Classic love songs by the late gravel-throated soul singer Barry White have been piped into the flamingo enclosure at Drusillas Zoo Park, East Sussex, in an effort to get the wading pink birds in the mood for love.

And it's not only Barry the frisky flamingoes can't get enough of: they've also been treated to songs by Marvin Gaye. (That's what we heard on the grapevine, anyway.)

And the result? Two of the flamingoes, Maurice and Gabriella, are now the proud parents of a cute baby chick - the first to successfully hatch at the park since 2009. Hurrah!

The new arrival currently looks a little like an ugly duckling, reports the Press Association. However, it will later turn pink due to the pigmentation in the food it eats, particularly shrimps.

Oooh - we never knew that. You learn something new and exciting every day.
