Colin Farrell and his beautiful Total Recall co-stars Jessica Biel and Kate Beckinsale wowed fans in London's Leicester Square on Thursday night, as they appeared at the UK premiere for Len Wiseman's remake of the 1990 classic.

Although Biel and Beckinsale were glammed up in gorgeous gowns to debut the action-packed film, their characters in the sci-fi flick are altogether less ladylike.

Beckinsale, who plays Lori, becomes the wife from hell and spends the entire duration of the film trying to kill her husband Douglas Quaid (Farrell), while Biel, who plays a rebel fighter, spends the film trying to protect him (and what remains of the world) - cue a kick-ass fight scene between the two women.

Speaking about the thrilling scene to The Huffington Post UK, Biel said: "It was quite silly, when it would cut we would laugh our heads off at how aggressive we were being, we aren't really aggressive people at all."

And she added that throwing the punches "was very empowering".

Eager not to start an off-screen feud with Beckinsale, she noted: "Some days I think she would have me for sure."

Meanwhile, British actress Beckinsale, who was directed by her husband Wiseman in the film, said she's nothing like her tough character in real life: "I don't have to be because I do it in films, but it's a deterrent for people."

Asked how he found working with Biel and Beckinsale, the star of the film Farrell said: "It was cool, they are sexy ladies but two very taken ladies, they are very smart and kind ladies and really talented actresses. I had a blast working with them both.

"It was a long shoot, it was five months, so there was a lot of waiting around and we all had a really good time together."

Farrell's character was originally played by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the much-loved classic Total Recall, but the Irish actor said he felt no pressure to live up to the role.

He explained: "I was kind of dubious at first, but when I read the script it felt so different from the original that I lost any sense of trying to compete with the memory of what Arnie did."
