A bottle of urine was apparently thrown at former X Factor star Cher Lloyd during her slot at V Festival on Sunday.

The Swagger Jagger singer walked offstage after something was lobbed at her from the audience of The Arena Stage at Hylands Park, Essex when she was reportedly met by booing, during her first song.

Witnesses said on Twitter she had left the stage in tears but had returned later.

The Daily Mail reported that Cher told her audience: "'It's hard enough being up here, but it's not nice having bottles of piss chucked at you."

Cher performed at V Festival's Stafford leg on Saturday. Earlier in the day, she tweeted how she was looking forward to the second performance.
