Lewis Hamilton Races Back To Be With Dying Aunt

Lewis Hamilton has cut short his US holiday to spend some time with his dying aunt.

The Formula 1 star's beloved relative is losing her long battle against cancer, and he was told she has just weeks to live.

He said on his Twitter page: "Will you please say a prayer for my auntie? She's dying from cancer and just been told she has weeks to live. It's the toughest time for the family, as it would be for any family. I can't wait to go see her. I want to spend every second I can with her."

He flew in from America, and was stunned by the kind-hearted responses from his Twitter followers.

He added: "Thank you all. I will show them to her when I see her. She will be very grateful. I can't believe this is happening."

It's prompted speculation that Lewis may pull out of a race in Belgium next weekend.

Hamilton is currently with Team McLaren, and while he has been linked with other sides, the company's managing director Jonathan Neale is hoping that he continues with McLaren after his contract ends this year.
