Congratulations - or indeed: félicitations - to stand-up comic Marcel Lucont (aka Alexis Dubus), who has won this year's Amused Moose Laughter Award.

Lucont's show Gallic Symbol beat over 100 hopefuls to be named winner at the final, which took place on Sunday at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The runners-up were Alistair Barrie's Urban Fogey and Laurence Clark's Inspired.

The Amused Moose competition is in its second year, and aims to find the best comedy show without a commercial DVD deal. It's voted for by both comedy industry professionals and Fringe-goers - and as well as a moose trophy (see below), the winner receives £5,000 for the development of their comedy career and a commercial-standard DVD recording of their show.

Meanwhile, in the Amused Moose Laugh Off Award 2012, there was, for the first time ever, a tie for first place - with Funmbi and Richard Todd being named breakthrough acts of the year. All the winners will feature in the Amused Moose Comedy Awards Showcases at London’s Soho Theatre in September.
