'The Inbetweeners Movie' Sequel Confirmed By Show's Co-Creator Damon Beesley

Back For A Second Big Screen Outing

The Inbetweeners Movie is to get a sequel, according to the comedy's co-creator Damon Beesley.

The follow-up to the 2011 summer Box Office record breaker, starring Joe Thomas, James Buckley, Simon Bird and Blake Harrison, will reportedly earn the actors £2.5million each.

The cast of The Inbetweeners (L-R) James Buckley, Joe Thomas, Blake Harrison and Simon Bird during the National Television Awards 2010.

The TV show was launched on E4 in 2008 and became such a hit that it was immediately commissioned for a second series and bumped up to Channel 4's main line-up.

After three series and steadily increasing viewing figures, it was announced that the story of the quartet of British sixth-form students would come to an end with a feature film.

That film, about the gruesome love failures of four school friends Will, Simon, Jay and Neil, who went on a booze-fuelled coming-of-age holiday in Malia, Crete, became the biggest surprise hit of 2011.

Taking £45 million at the summer box office, a healthy return on a £3.5m production budget, it earned the most money on an opening weekend ever, beating previous record holders Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason and The Hangover: Part 2.

The flick was essentially 90 minutes of vulgar surprises, including the nasal ingestion of poo, but people came back for more with nearly 600,000 copies of its DVD being sold during its first day on sale.

Now, catapulting stars of the E4 series further into fame, the film is also set to be released Stateside on 7 September.
