'300' Sequel: Gerard Butler Will Not Rise From The Dead As Spartan Leader In 'Battle of Artemisia'

'It Wasn't Really My Thing'

Gerard Butler has ruled out rising from the dead to reprise his role in 300 after his Spartan leader character was killed off in the original film.

The Scottish hunk shot to international fame as ancient warrior King Leonidas in the comic book-based 2007 hit, and despite the character meeting a grisly end, director Zack Snyder revealed he wanted to bring Butler back for a follow-up.

However, the star has confirmed he has no part in the upcoming sequel 300: Battle of Artemisia.

He tells MTV.com, "Oh, yeah, I'm not doing it. They're filming (the 300 sequel) right now. I wish them the best, but it didn't (work out). It wasn't really my thing."
