The owner of a clothing shop called "Hitler" in India has agreed to rename it after complaints.

Rajesh Shah said he had chosen the name in memory of his grandfather, a strict disciplinarian to whom the family referred as "Hitler."

Shah had previously told The Times of India that he had no idea the name would be so controversial, saying: "Hitler was a nickname given to my business partner Manish Chandani's grandfather because of his strict nature..

"Frankly, till the time we applied for the trademark permission, I had only heard that Hitler was a strict man."

The shop in Ahmadabad, the main city in Gujarat state, opened last month with a large sign reading "Hitler" and a Nazi swastika inside the dot in the letter "i."
