Bestival: The Last Of The Summer Festivals

Thousands of revellers will be donning fancy dress today as the Bestival music event prepares to hold its famed dressing up parade.

The last and one of the quirkiest major UK music festivals of the season got into full swing on Friday night with a headline set by Florence and the Machine.

Lead singer Florence Welch gave an energetic performance ending with popular favourite Dog Days Are Over.

She spoke of how she felt honoured to be headlining the event and thanked Bestival curator and Radio 1 DJ Rob Da Bank for his support from the start of the group's career.

Their set followed an atmospheric show by The xx who gave their only festival appearance of the year.

Hotly-tipped Alt-J also attracted a large and enthusiastic crowd to their performance on one of the smaller stages.

More than 50,000 music lovers have headed to Robin Hill Country Park on the Isle of Wight for the four-day event which will be headlined on Saturday by New Order and concluded by Stevie Wonder on Sunday.

Those at the festival will be watching acts ranging from The xx to Stevie Wonder

This afternoon thousands of people will join the annual fancy dress parade which this year has a theme of wildlife.

Bestival is made up of more than 20 stages with the line-up with other acts performing including Friendly Fires, Two Door Cinema Club, Emeli Sande, Bat for Lashes, Orbital, Miike Snow and Azealia Banks.

The sell-out event at Robin Hill Country Park is the first UK festival to be streamed live on YouTube.
