A baby girl who was believed to have been delivered stillborn but then found alive in a hospital's morgue has finally been allowed to go home with her family.
Luz Milagros Veron had been making steady progress in hospital since she was born three months early in April - despite initially displaying no signs of life and weighing just 1lb 7oz.
Her devastated parents had been told she was stillborn but when they visited her in the morgue 12 hours after her birth and insisted her coffin was opened, they were astonished to find the tiny baby freezing cold but alive and crying.
Now five months old, Luz still uses a tube for breathing and feeding, but has been allowed to go home to the Argentinian town of Fontana with her mum Analia Boutet.
Medics have warned her parents that she will continue to need medical assistance.
Mrs Boutet spoke in April of the moment she realised Luz was alive, saying "I moved the coverings aside... and I touched her hand and then uncovered her face. That's where I heard a tiny little cry".
"I fell to my knees. My husband didn't know what to do. We were just crying and I laughed and cried, cries and laughter."
The parents had planned to call their little girl Lucia Abigail, but changed it to Luz Milagros - meaning 'miracle light' after her miraculous survival.
