Eight women have died in a Nato air strike in Afghanistan, according to the BBC.
The killing of civilians, confirmed by Nato, took place in Laghman Province.
A spokesman for Isaf said that between five and eight civilians were killed. Isaf has launched an investigation into the deaths, which occurred during the targeting of 45 insurgents.
The deaths are unrelated to the earlier killings of four Nato soldiers in a suspected attack by members of the Afghan police force in Zabul province.
"Unfortunately, we have become aware of possible Isaf-caused civilian casualties as a result of this strike, numbering five-eight Afghans," Major Adam Wojack told the BBC.
"Isaf offers its sincerest condolences to the affected community and family members, as well as to the Afghan people, concerning this tragic loss of life."
The deaths follow that of a British soldier from 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards who was killed on Friday after his vehicle hit a roadside bomb.
