WATCH: Channel 4 Doorsteps Kelvin MacKenzie Over Hillsborough

But Channel 4’s Alex Thomson wants to know why the former editor has never explained why he used the headline “The Truth” – despite being warned by the reporter who filed the splash story on the tragedy - Harry Arnold - that this could not be stated as a fact.

So Thomson sought out MacKenzie at his Surrey mansion with a camera crew in the hope of drawing out some answers.

The resulting fiery encounter has been posted on YouTube.

Channel 4's Alex Thomson refuses to give up

Mr MacKenzie slams the door in Mr Thomson’s face and said: "I’m going to do it next week. You’re not setting the agenda."

But Thomson isn’t about to give up.

When MacKenzie emerges and climbs inside his SUV, the Channel 4 reporter doggedly continues questioning him.

In fact, he stands right next to the driver's seat and doesn’t even let the former tabloid chief shut the door.

“Tell us why you overruled the views of your own journalists,” asks Mr Thomson.

MacKenzie continually tries to slam the door, with Mr Thomson warning “don’t assault me”.

In the end the controversial journalist makes his escape – with his side of the story still untold.
