Doctor Who To Be Directed By Lord Of The Rings Mastermind Peter Jackson? A Dream Combination That Could Come True...

Lord Of The Rings Mastermind To Direct Dr Who Down Under? It COULD Happen...

It's a geek's dream combination that might just come true.

Doctor Who actor Matt Smith has revealed his desire to film an episode of the much-loved sci-fi series in New Zealand, and suggested that a fitting person to direct would be Peter Jackson, Kiwi mastermind of the big screen Lord of the Rings series.

He told New Zealand's Waikato Times, "Let's get Peter Jackson to direct one and go and make it in New Zealand. I would love to, I will campaign endlessly to come over and film there."

Doctor Who and his posse recently visited the Wild West - so why not Down Under?

And it seems he won't have to twist Jackson's arm to do it. The Oscar-winning director, currently hard at work on the Hobbit series of films, is already a keen fan of Doctor Who, and even owns the costume of one of the Timelord's incarnations, Sylvester McCoy, whom he also hired for The Hobbit.

The Waikato Times approached Peter Jackson, who immediately said, "I'll be there." Read more here...

Go on, Steven Moffat, make it happen!

It wouldn't be the first time Doctor Who and his pals went further afield than the city walls of Cardiff, where it is produced. Only this week, viewers saw the time-traveller end up in the Wild West of the 19th century.

If he does head off Down Under, Matt Smith won't be with his current companions Amy and Rory Pond - they're set to say goodbye in a few episodes' time, and Karen Gillan who plays Amy has promised fans "there'll be tears". Read more here...
