Roberto Mancini Angered By Joe Hart Insisting Manchester City 'Threw It Away' At Real Madrid

Joe Hart's Post-Match Interview: Refreshing Honesty Or Too Honest For Mancini?

When footballers are immediately thrust in front of an interviewer following a match, irrespective of the scoreline the same old clichés keep comin' like monotonous hits on a radio station. Joe Hart however bucked the trend after Manchester City's stoppage time defeat to Real Madrid, much to Roberto Mancini's disdain.

A gutted Hart said: "You can't go 2-1 up with five minutes to go and lose the game. It's not on."

When ITV's Gabriel Clarke asked "So you blame yourself?" Hart rhetorically replied "Who else can we blame?" Hart was highly culpable for Cristiano Ronaldo's winner.

His candour was not well received by his manager however. Mancini, who has not shied away from publicly criticising players in the past, was equally frank when a journalist relayed Hart's quotes to him at the post-match press conference.

"If anyone should criticise the team, I should criticise the team, not Joe Hart," the Italian authoritatively declared.

"Joe Hart should stay as goalie.I am the judge, not Joe Hart."
