Katy Perry Throwing Divorce Party

Katy's Divorce Party

Katy Perry has no plans to sit around looking glum and stuff her face with Dairy Milk on the second anniversary of her failed marriage - she's throwing a party to put her divorce behind her for good.

The pop star's marriage to Russell Brand started to crumble last year, and the funnyman eventually filed divorce papers after just 14 months as man and wife.

As 23 October approaches - the date which would have been the pair's second wedding anniversary - Katy's decided to bring her 28th birthday party forward by two days so she can enjoy turning older rather than wallow in self-pity.

"It's her birthday two days later and the last thing she wanted to do was spend that week depressed and miserable, which would then mean not doing anything to celebrate her birthday.

"Her pals have been persuading her to have a huge party or go to Vegas for a few days but Katy decided on throwing a small gathering at her home.

"She has decided to call it her divorce party and it will be a day of doing what she loves with her favourite people."

The bash will mark a new chapter for Katy, who tapped into her spiritual side last month by disappearing from public view for a few weeks to go on a soul-searching vacation.

Uploading a snap of herself on Twitter on top of a mountain, she wrote, "I ate, I prayed, I climbed a volcano" - a play on the title of Elizabeth Gilbert's memoir Eat, Pray, Love, which became a 2010 drama starring Julia Roberts.
