April Jones Missing: Mark Bridger Pictured As Police Urge Locals To Come Forward With Information

First Picture Emerges Of Mark Bridger

A picture of Mark Bridger, the man being held on suspicion of abducting missing five-year-old April Jones, has emerged as police continue to search for the schoolgirl.

Mark Bridger was known to Coral and Paul Jones

The former soldier is believed to have fathered six children with a number of women after moving to the rural Welsh town of Machynlleth from Surrey in the late 1980s. He's not believed to be close to his parents, who live in a retirement home in Halisham.

Locals have said Bridger has a daughter around April's age who often played with the missing five-year-old. The former soldier was known to April's parents Paul and Coral Jones and is believed to have lived close to the Bryn y Gog estate where April was snatched.

Reports have suggested he was working as a swimming pool lifeguard at Machynlleth leisure centre, the community centre flashed up on many news channels as the building from which the search for April Jones was coordinated.

Although he got married in 1990 to a woman named by the Telegraph as Julie Williams, that relationship broke down after they had a son, Scott, in 1992.

His car is a mid-90s Land Rover Discover, L-registration with left-hand drive. Police are fast-tracking forensic examinations of his vehicle for any clues as to April's whereabouts.
