Fabrice Muamba was presented with a Brazil shirt bearing his name and the number nine by another famous number nine, Ronaldo.
The two-time Ballon d'Or winner was in London along with Muamba at the Leaders in Football conference, when he revealed the iconic yellow shirt much to Muamba's delight.
Muamba announced his retirement from football in August on medical grounds after he suffered a cardiac arrest whilst playing for Bolton Wanderers in March.
The 24-year-old said he was "devastated" Bolton had sacked Owen Coyle, who left the club on Tuesday.
Coyle lead the club commendably as Muamba recovered from his collapse in the FA Cup against Tottenham Hotspur.
