Meet Argentina's Ambassador For Pop Culture (NSFW PICTURES)

A former soft-porn actress who was the first to perform full-frontal nudity on Argentinian screens has been appointed the nation's ambassador for pop culture.

Isabel Sarli, now 77, will work within the remit of the Ministry of Culture. President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner said Sarli was a "true representative of national culture", The New York Daily News reported.

Kirchner added: "It is as much for her acting skills in films as for being considered a popular icon of her day and an emblematic figure of Argentine cinema."

Isabel Sarli earned the nickname La Coca, which apparently came from her love of Coca-Cola - and her curves which were reminiscent of the bottle the soft drink came in

Her nude scenes in the role - the first in Argentinian cinema - were condemned and censored, although Sarli went on to become an international star.

Bo often appeared as her on-screen lover, as did, weirdly, his son Victor, although Sarli pointed out in an interview with The Film Society Of Lincoln Center in 2010 that wherever possible, she would avoid nude scenes or contact between her and other actors.

She also recounted how a harrowing scene during the filming of a rape scene in Flesh, which left her verging on vegetarianism.

She said: "The rape scene at the meat packing plant was horrible. In the famous scene when I'm thrown down on the carcass of meat, a piece of fat fell off the hook on to my face, right near my lips.

"It was disgusting, but I had to stay still. It affected me a lot - to this day, I eat very little meat."

She retired from cinema in 1981 following Bo's death, an event she says left her "just wanting to die".

Sarli, who was born Hilda Isabel Sarli Gorrindo Tito, earned the nickname La Coca, which apparently came from her love of Coca-Cola - and her curves which were reminiscent of the bottle the soft drink came in.

Her film titles include: Shut Up Or Put Out, Naked On The Sand, The Hot Days, Meat and The Virgin Goddess.
