Supermarket Chain Morrisons Launches Degree At Hull University

Morrisons Launches Degree

Supermarket chain Morrisons has become the latest consumer company to launch a degree.

The food giant follows in the footsteps of businesses such as fast food restaurant chain KFC and Starbucks, which even opened its own university last year.

Morrisons is offering a part-time foundation degree in supermarket operations in partnership with Hull University's business school. The 100 students already enrolled at "Morrisons Academy" will be offered the opportunity to refine their leadership skills and knowledge.

A spokesperson from Morrisons said the programme was designed to ensure the company could develop the best managers for its stores.

"We prefer to grow people from within the company rather than recruit. This way, we can identify future leaders in the business and support them.

"This degree is also a chance to support people who may not have had the chance to go to university before. We don't want people to miss out."
