Andy Serkis To Direct Adaptation Of George Orwell's 'Animal Farm'

Andy Serkis' Directorial Debut

'Lord of the Rings' actor, Andy Serkis, is set to make his directorial debut with a big screen adaption of George Orwell's classic novel, 'Animal Farm'.

Serkis, who voices the role of creepy Gollum in the popular fantasy series, will step behind the camera for the project, about a group of animals rising up against their human owners.

The Brit, who has had motion-capture performances in 2005's 'King Kong' remake and 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes', is considering once again embracing technology to bring the movie's farmyard creatures to life.

The voice of Gollum will be behind the camera for his latest venture

He tells The Hollywood Reporter, "We are in proof-of-concept stage at the moment, designing characters and experimenting on our stage with the designs.

"It is quite a wide canvas as to how much... we will be using facial (capture). We are not discounting the use... of puppeteering parts of animals. We are in an experimental phase; it's terribly exciting."
