Bournemouth goalkeeper David James has been awarded his MBE by the Prince of Wales.

Don't drop it! James was renowned for dropping clangers during his career

Former England goalkeeper James received the award for his services to football and charity at the ceremony at Buckingham Palace.

A new defence?

James said the Prince asked him about the foundation he has set up in Malawi to help local farmers.

Meeting the Prince

"He was asking me about the foundation and wished me well," said the much-travelled star.

"Just how did you win the FA Cup in 2008?"

"It is an agricultural foundation set up in Malawi to educate farmers on better farming techniques, in a bid to solve the problem of starvation issues."

Just the one hand

James, who has played for Bristol City, Watford, Liverpool, Aston Villa, West Ham, Manchester City and Portsmouth, added: "I haven't met the Prince before, he was a charming gentleman."
