Fox Steals Handbag, Then Returns It

Fox Steals Handbag, Then Returns It To Owner

Urban foxes have had a bad reputation for a while now. The 'dangerous dogs' de nos jours, if you will.

So we're delighted to hear of a news story that paints our foxy friends in a new, (slightly) more pleasant light.

Yes, behold the fox (not the one in the photo above - that was posed by a model) who stole a woman's handbag in Burgess Hill, West Sussex... only to return it.

“We were in the [estate's] car park and he looked at me for a few seconds before letting out this feeble yelp," Burgess Hill resident Jeremy Clark told The Argus. “Next thing I knew he had my wife’s handbag in his mouth and was running towards the bushes."

But just moments later, reports the paper, the "guilty-looking fox crept back into the car park with his bushy tail between his legs. In his mouth was Anna’s bag which he dropped at her feet before running off."

Of course, what The Argus and Mr Clark fail to mention is that Anna's wallet was missing from her handbag, and the fox was later seen buying drinks for everyone at Mooch@76 bar on Church Walk. Possibly.

Anyway, congratulations, Mr Fox. You really are fantastic, and may have single-pawedly helped to rehabilitate foxes in the eyes of us mere humans. Which is more than can be said for this little lot:
