'She Was So Incredibly Alone'

Megan Hilty has revealed she was shocked to find out just how alone Marilyn Monroe really was, during her research for her part in 'Smash'.

In the video interview above, Hilty, who plays beautiful blonde musical star Ivy Lynn in the US drama about a Broadway production (based on the life of screen legend Marilyn), also reveals what she'd say to the iconic star if she could meet her now.

The first series of 'Smash' saw Hilty as "super ambitious" Lynn go up against part time waitress Karen Cartwright, played by 'American Idol' finalist Katherine McPhee, for a big musical break.

The show received mixed reviews Stateside but a second series, starring Academy Award-winner Jennifer Hudson, has been confirmed.

Developed by Steven Spielberg, the ensemble cast also includes British talents Jack Davenport as unsympathetic director Derek Wills and Raza Jaffrey as Karen’s boyfriend Dev.

Smash Season One is available on DVD now.
